Newport Shores History
The land that became Newport Shores was originally lakeside flats, wetlands, woods, and even an old lakeside airstrip before residential development
In the late 1950s, development began in earnest. The developer cut canals into the land, created peninsulas, and filled in lower areas to build homes.
Today there are 340–350 homes on about 170–172 acres, including around 100 that are on canal or Lake Washington waterfront
Modern environmental regulations will never allow a community like this to ever been built again in the greater Seattle area.
